Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - Neurosurgery - Full Time - Ascension Seton Healthcare - Austin, TX

What You Will Do:
APP will be working 1:1 with a neurosurgeon initially. Requirements include rounding on inpatients, assisting in surgery, and seeing patients in in clinic. Good communication skills and ability to work/adapt in a busy neurosurgical practice. Neurosurgery or related experience strongly preferred. Surgical first assisting experience required. Acute Care Certification or Clinical Nurse Specialist with acute care training/educational component required. Main site of practice will be Dell Seton Medical Center, but will also practice within other sites within Seton as needed. Currently this is a Mon-Fri position, no call but may require weekends or taking call in the future. Holidays required in coordination with other APP team members.
Responsibilities:
- Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
- Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
- Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
- Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.
What You Will Need:
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
- Required Credential(s):
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board .
- Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Acute Care Certification or Clinical Nurse Specialist with acute care training/educational component required
- Preferred Credential(s):
- Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education:
- Diploma
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program Master's degree preferred
Work Experience:
Not accepting applications for new graduates
Surgical first assisting experience strongly preferred
Neurosurgery or related experience preferred
