Full Time Pain Medicine Physician Job in Los Gators, CA
The Pain Management Physician is to assume the role of primary treating physician for injured workers. Occupational medicine physicians or PM&R training preferred but will consider family practice, neurology, and internal medicine. This position requires personable and skilled at relationship building to help create a positive atmosphere at this location and will have the ability to diagnose pathology and recommend appropriate treatment essential. Must be able to communicate with patients and adjusters.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weaning of medications while patients are enrolled in the program.
  • Evaluating any issues such as pain flares or new complaints that arise in the program.
  • Providing basic medications for sleep and/or depression.
  • Evaluating patients with a multidisciplinary team to determine which candidates are appropriate on a medical basis for enrollment.
  • Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
  • Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
  • Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
  • Record complete, timely and legible medical records.
 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Functional restoration experience preferred.
  • Experience with California Workers Compensation System.
  • Good knowledge base of musculoskeletal pathology and treatment is essential.
  • Must have the ability to relate to patients in chronic pain.
  • Must understand the difference between chronic and acute pain.
  • Expected to coherently explain why increased pain is not necessarily related to increased tissue damage and how deconditioning leads to increased pain and depression.




Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current California Medical Practitioner License 
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing.
  • Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting.
  • Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments and health regimens to treat patient health issues.
  • Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
  • Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary starts at $250K and goes up depending on experience.
